SC house approves special session on redistricting

(CNN)– SC lawmakers are one step closer to holding a vote on redrawing the state’s congressional districts.

Wednesday night, May 6, 2026, the SC House of Representatives approved a resolution giving lawmakers permission to return after the regular session comes to a close next week.

The effort comes after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of redistricting in Louisiana.

Critics argue that redistricting weakens the Voting Right’s Act.
