9 people in Saluda County exposed to rabid calf

SALUDA, S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with the SC Department of Public Health say 9 people in Saluda County were exposed to a rabid calf.

The calf was located near Denny and Prosperity highways.

Officials say the calf was submitted to DPH’s laboratory for testing on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, and was confirmed to have rabies on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The people who were exposed have been referred to their healthcare providers.
