Lawsuit filed against SC House Rules Committee over redistricting debate
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The ACLU of South Carolina and the League of Women Voters filed suit over the South Carolina House Rules Committee, accusing members of violating the state’s open meetings law Monday night when they debated redistricting legislation.
The complaint, filed Tuesday in Richland County Court, claims the public did not receive proper notification of the meeting, violating the South Carolina Freedom of Information act.
The ACLU of South Carolina told ABC Columbia that a hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m., Wednesday.
