SCSO: Argument between brothers turns deadly

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A domestic disturbance between two brothers resulted in one being shot and killed, says SCSO deputies.

At around 11:21 p.m. on Tues, May 19, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a shooting incident at a home on Benenhaley Road.

Upon deputies arrival to the home, deputies identified the suspect as Randy M. Lowery, and detained him.

Deputies found the victim who was identified as Markus Antonio Burroughs, 40, inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound and attempted to provide aid.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived to the scene and notified the coroner, says SCSO.

Lowery was charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen gun.

He was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing.
