Samsung avoids strike with tentative labor deal

(CNN)– A major strike at Samsung has been put on hold at least for now.

Hours before tens of thousands of workers planned to walk off the job Thursday, May 21, Samsung and its unions announced a tentative labor deal.

Pending official union approval, the agreement temporarily avoids what would be the largest strike in the history of the tech and electronics company.

Workers had been demanding a bigger share of profits after Samsung’s Ai-fueled surge helped push the company’s value above one trillion dollars.
