Pedestrian fatally struck on U.S. Highway 15 in Sumter Thursday

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday afternoon.

It happened on U.S. Highway 15 near the intersection with Quarter Mile Road at 1 p.m.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road, when a 2003 Lincoln Town Car struck them.

The pedestrian was transported by EMS and died from their injuries.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as of yet.

Highway Patrol is still investigating.
