UPDATE: Driver killed in overnight Monticello Road wreck identified

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed in an overnight wreck on Monticello Road Tuesday.

Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as Ja’kari D. Davis, 23, of Winnsboro.

According to troopers, at 1 a.m., Davis was driving north on Monticello Road near Kinsler Road in a 2021 Hyundai Elantra, when they struck a deer, went off the road and struck several trees.

Davis died from their injuries, while a passenger was hurt and taken to the hospital.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
