Study: Teens spend 1h+ on their phone at night

(CNN)– The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommend teenagers get 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night.

But according to new research more than half of U.S. teens spend at least an hour on their phone overnight on school nights.

Researchers analyzed data from a study that shows how teen phone-use patterns cut into sleep at night.

The research doesn’t directly link night-time phone use to harmful outcomes for teens however, previous research has shown sleep disruption does have negative impacts on cognitive function, emotional regulation, mental health, and more.
