SLED charges Charleston Co. man after 2025 shooting at SC State

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with a 2025 shooting that happened at SC State University, said SLED.

SLED officials said, Darrell Lee Goss Jr., was charged on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, carrying or displaying a firearm on school
property, and breach of peace aggravated in nature.

Goss Jr. was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.

He is accused of pointing and discharging a firearm into a crowd of people while in the parking lot in front of SC State’s Hugine Suites on October 4, 2025.

SLED was requested by the university’s Department of Public Safety to investigate two shootings that occurred on campus the evening of Saturday, October 4, 2025.

SLED’s investigations are active and ongoing at this time, according to law enforcement.
