WATCH: Sheriff Lott holds conference after 1 dead following shooting involving deputies

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leon Lott held a press conference at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon to discuss an early morning shooting that involved deputies.

During the press conference, Sheriff Lott talked about continuing the investigation into the shooting, and reviewing evidence.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the person who died after being involved in the shooting with deputies as Qwa’Maurie A. Deaver, 18, of Columbia.

A ring of shots could be heard on a video that was playing body cam footage of the incident.
