Driver avoiding deer killed in wreck on US-176 in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a driver is dead after trying to avoid hitting a deer Thursday night.
It happened at US-176/Old State Road near Coach Road at 9:30 p.m.
According to Master Trooper Hannah Davidson, the driver of a 2007 Honda Accord went off the right side of the roadway to avoid hitting the deer, when they overturned and struck a tree.
Troopers say the driver died on scene from their injuries, while a passenger was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as of yet.
Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
