Trump wants cars to be 50% made in the U.S. under U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement

(CNN)– The U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement is up for review this year, and the Trump Administration wants to propose at least one change related to car parts.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the proposal would require half of the materials in an automobile to come from U.S. sources in order to qualify for lower tariffs under the pact.

The components would be measured by their dollar value.

The rule change would greatly increase the amount of U.S. content required in cars made under the USMCA.
