1 Dead, 1 Injured in Eastover Shooting

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department say they are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the 100 block of John Ammons Road in Eastover Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., June 16, deputies located two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds at the location.

One of the individuals was pronounced dead on scene. The other individual was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

After further investigating into the shooting it was revealed that the suspect and victim were engaged in a dispute when the suspect retrieved a firearm and shot the victim once.

After being shot, the victim called 911.

Before deputies arrived, the victim heard another gunshot, according to RCSD.

Upon their arrival to the scene, deputies saw the suspect with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation remains active.
