Snap creates new augmented reality glasses

(CNN)– The company that pioneered disappearing picture messaging is taking a big gamble.

Snap Inc., hopes people are ready to drop $2,200 on its augmented reality glasses.

Snap CEO Even Spiegel is betting people want more functionality than competing smart glasses offer, and will pay for it.

Specs can project images onto the lenses, giving them full AR capabilities.

Most current smart glasses including a coming entry from Google and Samsung do not have displays.

Instead, they rely on cameras and speakers.
