Conference committee reaches agreement on 2026-2027 state budget

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A conference committee has reached an agreement on the 2026-2027 state budget.

SC lawmakers missed a key budget deadline earlier this month, leaving the state without a finalized spending plan for the new year.

Earlier this year (2026), lawmakers approved a temporary funding measure that allows government agencies to continue operating under current spending levels until a new budget is approved.

The budget will now be considered by both the House and Senate.

If approved it will be sent to the governor for consideration.
