Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — A hearing in Richland County court is taking place to determine if South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson should be removed from prosecuting an ethics violations case against House Speaker Bobby Harrell. Circuit Judge Casey Manning is presiding over the hearing. Harrell’s lawyers claim Wilson tried to intimidate the speaker into supporting legislation and want him removed from the case. The case stems from allegations that Harrell continually used his position and power to boost his finances, specifically regarding his pharmaceutical business in Charleston. Another allegation is that Harrell appointed his brother to a panel in charge of screening judicial candidates.
