Myrtle Beach mayor visits China to draw business
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes says visitors and potential investors from China plan to visit Myrtle Beach before the end of the year.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/qeGW9q ) Rhodes is back from a nearly two-week visit to China where he met with business, tourism and government officials at the China International Fair for Investment and Trade.
Rhodes met with top executives of major travel agencies to spread the word about Myrtle Beach. He says the Chinese know about Miami and Los Angeles, but haven’t heard much about South Carolina. Rhodes says he felt shy about giving the population of Myrtle Beach at 30,000 in populous China. So he used Horry County’s population of a quarter-million.
