SC officials collecting unwanted pesticides

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — State agriculture officials are in Columbia to collect unwanted pesticides from farmers and homeowners.
The South Carolina Department of Agriculture is partnering with Richland County Solid Waste and Recycling Department to collect the materials on Friday.
Richland County is holding its annual Richland Recycles Day at the State Fairgrounds. Most of the recycling event is only open to Richland County residents, but waste pesticides will be accepted from residents of any South Carolina county.
People can drop off their items from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Quantities are limited to 2,500 pounds of solid and 300 gallons of liquid at no charge.
Items like fertilizer and compressed gas cylinders will not be accepted.
