Horry County holds document shredding event

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — The Horry County Sheriff’s Office is helping people protect their identities by allowing them to shred documents with personal information.

The event is being held Thursday at the Horry County Government and Justice Center in Conway with the help of the AARP and a document shredding company.

The free event allows people to bring up to three bags or boxes of documents with personal information for shredding. Officials say that identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the nation.
