9/11 remembrance ceremony planned in Columbia for Friday morning 

 

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — As the nation marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the 9/11 Remembrance Foundation of South Carolina will host the 9/11 Morning of Remembrance Ceremony from 8:30–10 a.m., Friday. Sept. 11, 2026. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center (1101 Lincoln St.). ABC Columbia’s Kelly Coakley talked with the foundation’s Vice Chairman, Irmo Fire Chief Mike Sonefeld about the event, the work of the foundation and how the monument was established in downtown Columbia.
