Police present dangers of driving to 8th grade class

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – The Lexington Police Department is trying to steer some students in the right direction. Tuesday, it will team with Lexington County School District One for the annual “Shattered Dreams” presentation. They’re targeting the eighth grade class before students make the big leap to high school and get their drivers licenses. The goal is to make them aware of dangerous driving behaviors, and to accomplish that, students will hear from a special guest speaker. Caitlyn Martin lost her brother in a 2007 accident. He was a standout baseball and football player for White Knoll High School, but Caitlyn will share how one-moment impacted her family’s life forever. Byron reportedly went around a sharp curve at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt. Caitlyn says she hopes this tragedy will make a difference in someone else’s life.
