SpaceX, Tesla explore possible merger

(CNN)– Elon Musk says SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to explore a merger.

Musk, who is ceo of both companies, was speaking on a SpaceX earnings call Tuesday (October 20).

He said he thinks there’s a lot of merit to combining the companies.

The remarks appeared to be the most forceful ones Musk has made publicly about a potential merger.

Musk said as a “conflicting party,” he can’t be part of the discussions.

He said it’s ultimately up to the special shareholder committees from each company.
