Cops: SC middle school student had loaded gun
LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an eighth-grade boy was found with a loaded gun in a locker room at a Lancaster County middle school.
Investigators say a physical education teacher at A.R. Rucker Middle School saw the student behaving strangely Thursday, then saw him load a clip into a handgun. Authorities say the teacher was able to get the student to give him the gun without incident.
Deputies say the boy took the gun from a family member and wanted to show his friends at school.
The teen was charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds and will be recommended for expulsion. His name was not released because he is charged as a juvenile.
