Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — The governor’s mansion was the backdrop for the party after the primary elections party, where Haley is touting whom she calls two rock stars for the United States senate. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott cleared the republican primary hurdle to become the nominees for South Carolina’s two senate seats in Washington. “With these two men we will continue to lead South Carolina in a path to success,” the governor. Graham, who avoided a runoff by defeating six fellow republicans, will face democratic state senator Brad Hutto in the November general election. Scott was appointed by Haley in 2013, after Jim DeMint resigned and had never faced a statewide election. In November he will, facing the democratic nominee, Joyce Dickerson, as well as American Party candidate Jill Bossi, according to the associated press. That latter race could earn South Carolina its first black elected U.S. senator since Reconstruction. At a victory press briefing hosted by the governor, all three republicans claim the face of Palmetto State politics is changing. “When you look at the three of us you see the diversity of America of South Carolina, but you also see a lot of common ground,” said Haley. “I think what we represent most is the future not because of any of us, but because our focus is how we make America better for the next generation,” said Tim Scott. “Our party in South Carolina has decided to serve people in stead of being idealogs. Conservatism serves people,” said Graham. Nikki Haley will seek a second term as governor in November, running against democratic opponent Vincent Sheheen. The people will make the final call on it all.
