(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., — The seats for South Carolina’s State Superintendent and Lieutenant Governor both come down to who can get the most votes. seems pretty simple – but that was far from the case during the June 10th primary. A low voter turnout and record number of candidates in both races left numbers too close to call after the election. But now that the playing field has dwindled in both races – voters have another chance to make their choice. State Superintendent GOP Candidates – Sally Atwater and Molly Spearman both come from the classroom seeing first hand what they say is lacking in South Carolina Public Schools. A platform catapulting both of them ahead of other opponents during the Primary Race. Spearman was in the lead during the primaries – but only by a 1.5 percentage point with Atwater following close behind. Whoever wins the GOP nod will go up against Democratic rivals Tom Thompson or Sheila Gallagher come November. But that’s not the only run off being fought Tuesday. The gloves are on for the states second in command as well. The Lieutenant Governor seat which will soon be vacant as Glenn McConnell takes on a new job. Leaving GOP candidates Henry McMaster and mike Campbell eager to jump into the hot seat. During the primary McMaster ended the race in the lead with about 20 percent more votes than Campbell. While Campbell may have been behind – he’s not out and depending on voter turnout could still have a good chance at getting the nomination needed to face off against Democratic State Representative Bakari Sellers who is the only nominee on the Democratic ticket for November.
