COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Should South Carolina raise the age limit to buy tobacco and nicotine products?

Richland County Representative Todd Rutherford introduced a constitutional referendum last week raising the age to 21.

The measure is being reviewed by the House Judiciary Committee.

E-cigarettes and vaping material would be covered under the amendment, if it passes the general assembly and is signed by the governor, voters would have a chance to vote yes or no in a statewide referendum.
