SC district sued for Calhoun Falls High closing

ABBEVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Two Calhoun Falls residents are suing the Abbeville County School Board, saying its members improperly discussed closing Calhoun Falls High School behind closed doors.

The Index-Journal of Greenwood (http://bit.ly/r55cjY) reports that Danny Hozey and Terry Richey also accuse the school board of failing to give proper notice before discussions that led to closing the school in 2008.

The lawsuit asks a judge to rule the school board violated the law and order the school to reopen.

Abbeville County School District Superintendent Ivan Randolph told the newspaper that the district didn’t break any laws and had legitimate reasons to close Calhoun Falls High.
