81-year-old Canadian woman killed by SUV on US 17

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 81-year-old woman from Canada is dead after she was struck and killed by an SUV while trying to cross a busy Horry County highway.

Investigators say Rose Fraser of Quebec, Canada, died at the hospital less than an hour after she was struck by a Dodge Durango around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers say Fraser was trying to cross U.S. 17 Business near Pirate Land Campground in Myrtle Beach. The woman driving the SUV was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The Highway Patrol is investigating. No charges have been filed.
