SC’s first tattoo convention opens on coast

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s first tattoo convention is under way in Myrtle Beach.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/mXEoxz ) the Ink Life Tour’s Tattoo and Music Festival opened on Friday and continues through the weekend.

It’s the first tattoo convention in South Carolina since tattooing became legal five years ago. About 65 tattoo artists are expected to attend.

There are no state regulations for tattoo shows, so organizers had to adhere to all the regulations for a permanent tattoo shop. That meant there had to be documentation for each tattoo artist from the state health department.

The show had been set for last May, but it was delayed so organizers could file all the paperwork required with state officials.
