Gamecocks Lead Missouri, 10-7 At The Half

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — In a game featuring two consistently high-scoring offenses, the South Carolina Gamecocks lead the Missouri Tigers 10-7 at the half after strong preformances from both teams’ defenses. Missouri jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on their opening 4-play, 42-yard drive finished off by a Russell Hansbrough 18-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers the 7-0 lead. Missouri would have another chance to add to their lead on their next drive, but Andrew Baggett’s 48-yard field goal missed just right of the uprights. The Gamecocks would respond on the next drive with an Elliot Fry 33-yard field goal to cut the lead to four just before the end of the first quarter. Both teams’ defenses came alive in the second quarter, as each team held the other under 100 yards of offense. South Carolina would score before the end of the half, thanks to back-to-back big plays from Mike Davis. Following a 24-yard catch and run, Mike Davis would cap off the drive with a 17-yard touchdown run to give the Gamecocks a 10-7 lead into the half. The Gamecocks finished the half with 179 yards of offense while the Tigers finished with 117 yards of offense. Mike Davis has 12 carries for 72 yards rushing and 1 TD. He also has 2 receptions for 31 yards.
