Crews rescue man trapped in grain silo in Orangeburg

Crews have rescued a man trapped in a silo at Cactus family farms.

Orangeburg, S.C. (WOLO) — Crews have rescued a man trapped in a silo at Cactus family farms.

No word on his condition, but crews say he is out of the silo and conscious. The Orangeburg County Fire Department says the don’t know how the man got stuck in the silo, but is employed with Cactus Family Farms.

Crews from several agencies including Orangeburg Public Safety and the Orangeburg Fire department worked Thursday to free a man trapped in a silo at Cactus Family Farms on John C. Calhoun Dr.

According to officials, crews had been there since about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Cactus Family Farms is a feed company, grain for cattle and hog are in these silos. Crews say the man was trapped for hours, as crews were slowly taking grain out. They were giving the man oxygen and water while they worked to free him.
