I-95 bridge repair project half done

SANTEE, S.C. (AP) — Repairs to the Lake Marion bridge on Interstate 95 are ahead of schedule.

The Department of Transportation said Tuesday that work on one lane has been completed on the repairs that started last month. Crews are repairing the deteriorating northbound lanes on the bridge over Lake Marion at Santee.

The work is expected to continue around-the-clock on the other lane though next month. Traffic on the northbound lane at the work site is limited to one lane and the speed has been reduced to 45 mph.

The department says motorists should expect heavy congestion, especially on weekends. I-95 is the main north-south route on the East Coast linking Maine and Florida.
