SC Guard honors soldiers deployed overseas

CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) — About 400 members of a South Carolina Army National Guard signal battalion are being honored this weekend for their year of service in the Mideast and Afghanistan.
Two companies of the 151st Expeditionary Signal Battalion headquartered in Greenville are being celebrated at separate ceremonies Saturday in Camden and in Hodges.
Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Lester Carroll says the battalion’s four companies served in various sites during their yearlong deployment, including in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain and Kuwait. They returned in July, but a formal welcome home ceremony was delayed until this weekend.
Family and friends are invited to the ceremonies at the National Guard armories in Camden at 10 a.m. and in Hodges at 2 p.m.
