Victim killed after striking a tree, culvert and power pole on Trotter Road identified

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal wreck early Sunday.

Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as Jose I. Nunez, 58, of Columbia.

According to Highway Patrol, at 1:09 a.m. Sunday, Nunez was driving east on Trotter Road near the intersection of Crestmore Drive, when he went off the left side, struck a tree, a culvert and a power pole and overturned.

Troopers say Nunez died on scene from his injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.
