York attorney shot to death, girlfriend arrested

YORK, S.C. (AP) — A York attorney has been killed at his home and police have arrested a woman they say was his live-in girlfriend.

Police say 44-year-old Michael Howe was shot several times and found dead in a bathroom in his home around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Lt. Rich Caddell says 27-year-old Christina Adams of York is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Adams was being held in the York County jail, and investigators say she has asked for an attorney.

Police say Adams told them Howe hit her.

Caddell says a friend of the couple who was at the home when the shooting occurred drove to the police department to report the crime.

Investigators say police have been called to the home before for domestic violence complaints.
