Cops find carjacking suspects asleep in stolen car

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Richland County deputies say they found two carjacking suspects asleep in the car they stole just hours earlier.

Investigators said three men approached a man at a gas station around 1 a.m. Saturday asking for a ride. The man said the suspects beat and robbed him after he took them where they wanted to go.

About six hours later, authorities say a deputy found the car parked less than a mile away from where it was stolen. The officer saw a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old sleeping inside, arrested them and charged them with carjacking.

Deputies say surveillance video from the gas station ties the teens to a crime, and they are looking for a third suspect.
