Coastal high tech: Bluffton creates tech incubator

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — The Town of Bluffton has created a partnership with Clemson University to help new technology companies.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head (http://bit.ly/nZM5x4 ) reports that the business incubator will recruit new companies and help them create products, services and jobs.

The nonprofit group is called the Bluffton Technology Incubator Corporation. It will operate in donated space and have seven board members appointed by the town.

The town has committed $50,000 over three years for the project. It also will hire a consultant with a salary of about $65,000 plus benefits. Officials say the nonprofit organization should be able to gather donations to cover the entire cost.
