Clover school suspends JV football after hazing

CLOVER, S.C. (AP) — Clover High School has ended the season for its junior varsity football team after allegations of hazing.

The move comes after junior varsity players were put on the varsity team to fill positions held by players accused of hazing younger teammates.

The junior varsity team dropped four games.

Thirteen seniors are accused of hazing three students. All were suspended for five days, which prevents them from playing in two games. Ten seniors were kicked off the team for the rest of the year.

A 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old player said they had been assaulted by some of the varsity players.

York County sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
