The Citadel to unveil statue of class ring
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Citadel is unveiling a statue of the school’s celebrated class ring.
The statue is being unveiled on the Charleston campus on Friday, a few hours before the college’s approximately 380 seniors receive their class rings. The presentation of the rings is a rite of passage at the state military school and signals the start of this year’s Parent’s Weekend.
The statute is a gift from Palmetto Balfour, the South Carolina division of the national company that manufactures class rings. Palmetto Balfour is owned by Jason Cline, who graduated from The Citadel in 1993.
