Thieves strike at town hall in tiny SC community

NORWAY, S.C. (AP) — Police did not have to go far to investigate a crime in the small South Carolina town of Norway after burglars struck town hall and vandalized a police cruiser.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1ETnSJA ) the crime was discovered when workers reported to town hall on Tuesday morning.
Scott Ward, the police chief in the Orangeburg County town of about 350 people, said wiring was ripped from electrical and phone meters. Offices were ransacked, and a police vehicle in the garage was also vandalized.
The burglars pushed in a window air conditioning unit to gain entry and made off with a gun, bulletproof vests and a couple of police radios.
