Jury Duty Scam

(WOLO) NEWBERRY COUNTY,S.C., — Newberry County Sheriff’s are warning people to be on the look out for a scammer. Authorities say a caller claims the person has an arrest warrant for failing to appear for jury duty. The scam artist then tells the victim they can drop the warrant in exchange for a payment made through either Western Union or by way of a Visa gift card. The Sheriff”s Department say they never ask for money over the phone. Authorities encourage anyone who gets a similar call to contact authorities immediately.
