Winthrop announces $50M fundraising campaign
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Winthrop University has started a fundraising campaign that officials hope will bring in $50 million to the school.
The university said Wednesday that the effort, called “Distinction: The Campaign for Winthrop,” has already raised more than $33 million during its silent phase.
The goals of the campaign are to make Winthrop accessible to more students, help students engage in global issues and improve the quality of the university.
Winthrop says it is only the second fundraising campaign in the university’s 125-year history. The school raised $31 million about a decade ago.
