Update: Berkeley Co Deputy in critical condition, Manhunt continues

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) (WCIV)– A manhunt continues for the suspect accused of shooting a Berkeley county deputy multiple times. The deputy, Lt. Will Rogers, is in critical but stable condition at the Medical University Hospital, according to officials. Interim Sheriff Butch Henerey said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m., shortly after Rogers pulled into an Exxon gas station. Police say a masked person came from behind the store and shot Rogers several times. The suspect then carjacked another customer and fled the area according to police. The vehicle the suspect stole, a black Hyundai Santa Fe, was recovered at a nearby boat landing. It has been turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division for processing, Henerey said. A manhunt continues for the suspect.
