2 tanks of cooking oil taken from Rock Hill eatery

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Some slick thieves have stolen more than 5,000 pounds of cooking oil from tanks outside a Rock Hill restaurant.

Police told The Herald of Rock Hill (http://bit.ly/uk3KM3 ) that employees of the Chicken Shak reported Monday that two oil tanks behind the restaurant that hold 2,800 gallons each were emptied.

Investigators think the thieves pumped the oil out of the tanks. The restaurant valued the cooking oil at nearly $1,200.

Employees told police that cooking oil was stolen in a similar manner two weeks ago, but the restaurant did not report the theft.
