Autopsy finds teen at boat ramp was shot in back

SENECA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities have determined a Pickens teen found dead at an Oconee County boat ramp was shot in the back.

Coroner Karl Addis said Thursday that autopsy results showed the bullet that struck Tylor Garren Stewart on Sunday night hit his spinal cord and heart.

Deputies are still investigating the homicide, and no arrests have been made.

When investigators went to the house of Stewart’s girlfriend in Pickens on Monday to gather information, officers say 42-year-old Laura Gray went to the bathroom and shot herself. She died a short time later at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Deputies have not said how or whether Gray and Stewart knew each other.
