Charleston child dies from home invasion wound

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A 5-year-old Charleston girl shot in the head during an apparent home invasion earlier this week has died.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (http://bit.ly/uawjb8 ) the family of Allison Griffor released a statement to the newspaper early Friday that the girl had died.

The girl was shot in the head while she was sleeping early Tuesday when someone fired a shotgun into the family home. The child’s father was wounded. There have been no arrests.

In the statement, the family thanked people in the Charleston area for their support during recent days. They said that their daughter’s organs were being donated to others.
