(WOLO) — A Southern Conference sweep and a shutout conference win on the road by SC State highlights this week’s small school South Carolina football roundup. For the fifth straight season The Citadel knocked off VMI. The Bulldogs won 41-14. Wofford and Furman made it a South Carolina Southern Conference sweep Saturday. Wofford beat Elon, 48-28. Furman won 14-7 at Chattanooga. SC State quarterback Richard Cue’s three touchdowns helped the Bulldogs shut out Howard in Washington, D.C., 31-0. The Big South SC schools didn’t fare so well Saturday. Coastal Carolina was shut out at Stony Brook, 42-0. Presbyterian fell in double overtime at Liberty, 27-20. Charleston Southern stayed winless on the season losing 14-7 at Gardner-Webb. Newberry couldn’t make it back-to-back wins at home. The Wolves dropped a 23-20 decision to UNC Pembroke. Benedict lost at Albany St., 37-13.
