COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) (WCIV)– Suspected Charleston Church shooter Dylann Roof appeared before a judge in a Federal Courtroom Friday in Charleston. Twenty-one-year-old Roof was arraigned on federal hate crime charges. Roof pleaded not guilty but only because the state has not yet decided on this being a capital case, said his attorney. Roof made the appearance to face a number of Federal Charges, including including hate crimes and a weapons charge. Roof also faces 9 murder charges and 3 attempted murder charges. Roof is accused of gunning down 9 members of Emanuel AME Church during a bible study.
