Deputies: Murder Suspect Takes Own Life in Stand-Off

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says a murder suspect took his own life during a standoff with deputies. According to Sheriff Lott the suspect barricaded himself inside a home on Cactus Ave. near Broad River Rd. Thursday afternoon. Lott says when deputies entered the home, the suspect was holding his brother hostage at gunpoint at which time deputies fired tear gas into the home. Investigators say upon re-entering the residence the suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to deputies the individual was a suspect in a recent home invasion in Little Mountain in Newberry Co.
