COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO ) – – State Troopers are working Monday to make sure your Labor Day is a safe one on the roads. Safety checkpoints are being manned across the state. AAA Carolina projects more than 390,000 motorists will be hitting the road in the Palmetto State, marking a 7 year high for Labor Day weekend due to low gas prices. On South Carolina roadways, the Department of Public Safety reports there‘s been more than 600 highway deaths this year. To ensure a safe holiday, officials remind drivers to designate a driver, buckle up and plan ahead.
